This report provides an overview of the various engagement opportunities, activities conducted and results or key takeaways. This is a living document until the adoption of the comprehensive plan and will be updated at key milestones in the process.

Engagement Summary (Round One)
Advisory Team Summary (Meeting One)
The Advisory Teams are one of several community groups that have an important role in the process. Focusing on expert insight and guidance, these teams will explore topics of interest that the community has identified. This report provides an overview of the four-team areas, a summary of meeting discussions, and results or key takeaways. This is a living document until the adoption of the comprehensive plan and will be updated at key milestones in the process.
Steering Committee Presentations
Meeting 4 – February
The consultant team shared the results from the first round of engagement which included an overview of the activities, who participated, and how to engage more people. An introduction was provided on the next steps for the process which includes scenario planning for specific areas in the City. The Steering Committee reviewed and discussed land use designations, called character types, for the City to understand what types of development exist today and what should be encouraged in the future.
Meeting 3 – December
The consultant team shared additional takeaways from the baseline analysis on topics such as economic development, transportation, land use, and fiscal health. The team also shared initial results from the first round of engagement which included an overview of the activities, who participated, and how to engage more people. The Steering Committee discussed options and opportunities to engage groups throughout Overland Park and shared insight on the technical work.
Meeting 2 – October
The consultant team shared a community overview providing demographic information on Overland Park today. The team also introduced a policy assessment that looked at previous planning efforts to understand which policies, projects, or programs had been initiated. The Steering Committee discussed key questions about this information to inform key themes for the process and prepared for the first round of engagement.
Meeting 1 – September
An introduction to the FrameworkOP planning process. The consultant team shared expectations for the process, a description of the Steering Committee’s role, the importance of the plan update, and our shared goal for public engagement. The Steering Committee shared a little about themselves and offered up insight into the greatest opportunities for Overland Park and how we can ensure the process is open and accessible to everyone.
Prep the Plan
In preparation for the FrameworkOP process, the City launched Prep the Plan to introduce the community to the comprehensive planning process. This included a four-part speaker series along with an interactive Planning 101 story about the history of planning in Overland Park.
